Dedication of Buildings (e.g. Kingdom Halls, Branch Offices etc)
by IMHO injust did i quick search it doesn't seem like this has been discussed.. why it's such a big deal, especially with branches where they are usually "dedicated" by a member of the governing body?.
is there a spiritual, biblical, theocratic significance.. does it "change" the building?.
should it be "un-dedicated" if it is sold.. i await your insight and responses.. .

RIP at least the world didn't get him, words of comfort?
by MissFit into my grieving sister about the death of her only son almost 2 year ago.
he was 25.. we were having lunch when she repeated those words of"wisdom" from one of her jw in-laws.
this is a hard month for her.

Whenever I heard JW's say regarding the resurrection and those who have died " Their last thought.....will be their first thought ".
I used to say, " What about those who were killed in a car wreck....does that mean will they wake up screaming in terror? "
Then at one of the assembly dramas back in the 80's, they opened with the sound of skidding tires, busting glass and someone screaming in horror. I can't remember exactly how they worked it out but basically a woman came running onto the stage which was set up to look like the New System (flowers, bowls of fruit etc). She was was supposed to be the one who had been screaming. She came on stage all freaked out and wondering where she was and what had happened. Apparently she had been killed in a car wreck back in the old system. Everyone on stage ran up to her and welcomed her to the new system and explained that she had been resurrected. It was pretty sick and weird.
Anyway, that blew a hole in my little answer because yes....according to the society, people would be resurrected not realizing they had died and thinking whatever was on their mind at the moment of death. ( a comforting thought huh?)

I like the first video but I wish they wouldn't have used the "F" word so much, otherwise I would have posted this on my facebook page where lots of my JW relatives and the few JW friends I have left would see it. The language alone however would be an excuse for them to dismiss every logical yet unsetteling new concept they hadn't though of before and they might finally write me off as having gone off the apostate "deep end" altogether.

What will the next "witness" fad illness be??
by stuckinarut2 inas we know, it seems that many witnesses "suffer" from "illnesses" at times.. now , before anyone scolds me for being insensitive or unfeeling, i am not mocking those who really suffer from illnesses of any sort.
i am having a go at those that jump on the bandwagon of the popular illness, which actually makes real sufferers feel jaded.. i am referring to the way that many witnesses who are actually damaged as a result of the constant "fear.obsession.guilt" of jw propaganda, often seem to "contract the current illness going around", or blame it on that instead of looking at the real cause.. im sure it is a subconcious result of the burdensome pressure of jw life that brings it on.
instead of seeing the draining effect on their lives as being the result of witness life, they will latch on to the next illness going around.. so, what is the latest going to be?.

The insensitivity and opportunistic nature of witness at the 9/11 site !
by stuckinarut2 ini saw an online post with pictures of all the witnessing carts all around the 9/11 site during the anniversary of the tragedy.... im appalled at how opportunistic they are, and how they prey on people in a mourning and vulnerable state!.
apparantly they boast of: "there are 65 carts, with 200 witnesses manning the area... and so far 15 new studies started!".

Wouldn't you love to walk up to one of those carts and ask them if they think God will remember all those Men Women and Childern who died when the Trade Centers came crashing down.
Then after they explain the hope of the resurrection, ask them if they think God will kill those people for the second time if they somehow sin or if they don't want to be Jehovah's Witnesses.

for me sparrowdown is a playful reference to matt 10:29 and the title of the movie black hawk down.. matt 10:29 was my go-to scrip to "prove" that god cares about us as individuals.

i did roving microphones this week, and i counted 43 people (variety of ages) out of an audience of 98!.

People Believe Jehovah Is A God Of Love Because He Is A Bully
by frankiespeakin inyes the god of the bible has done his share of being a murderous bully(according to the mythology found in the book), his holly motto seems to be through out: "do what i say or i will kill you".
of coarse cringing christian's because of their fear of the deity will proclaim that all these acts of slaughter that the bible ascribes to god as an act of love, and chime in with approval and superlatives when 1john 4:8* is read.
and i atribute it mainly to god being a bully in the bible and threatening to kill every one not having faith in him.. 8 l anyone who does not love does not know god, because m god is love.. .

I don't think it's a lie. In my experience if you truly drift away from the preaching activity or meetings becacause you get busy or bored or distracted for any number of reasons, they do continue talking to you and encouraging you to come back. If you walk or fade away after raising objections to beliefs, policies or the actions of others, they do keep you at arms length and even go as far as to eliminate you from their life if you don't come around to their way of thinking.
